University of Alberta Press is pleased to announce its annual event Literary Editions. Please join us online on April 24, 2024 from 5 to 6:30 pm MT. Everyone is welcome!
This poetry event will feature readings from UAlberta Press’ newest collections: That Audible Slippage by Margaret Christakos, Deviant by Patrick Grace, and Northerny by Dawn Macdonald. Our host is the amazing rob mclenann.
This hybrid event is co-hosted by the Edmonton Poetry Festival. There will be a listening party in Henderson Hall (1-17 Rutherford Library South, University of Alberta campus) and there will also be audience members joining via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out the day before the event and again one hour before the start.
For those joining in Edmonton, there will be refreshments as well as an opportunity to visit. After the online readings, the Zoom session will end.
ABOUT THE BOOKS AND AUTHORS
That Audible Slippage by Margaret Christakos invokes a poetics of active listening and environmental sound to investigate the ways in which we both hear and fail to hear insufficiency, loss, incompleteness, and other affects.
Deviant by Patrick Grace traces a trajectory of queer self-discovery from childhood to adulthood, examining love, fear, grief, and the violence that men are capable of in intimate same-sex relationships.
Fresh, funny, and imbued with infectious energy, Northerny by Dawn Macdonald tells a much-needed and compelling story of growing up and living in the North.
