The launch of The Creation of iGiselle at Audreys Books provided audience members a quick look into the unusual marriage of Romantic ballet and artificial intelligence. Nora Stovel, editor of the volume, talked about this intriguing idea. Mark Morris, Laura Sydora, Wayne DeFehr, and Sergio Poo Hernandez were present to share their part in the project, starting with looking into the history of Giselle, to composing music, or creating the video game.
If you missed this launch, there will be another one on March 22 at the Jubilee Auditorium‘s first balcony level at 3:30, where contributors will be joined by Alberta Ballet Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maitre, ballerina Hayna Gutierrez and principal dancer Kelley McKinlay, who will talk about Alberta Ballet’s March 2015 production of Giselle.
Alberta Ballet also invites guests to view company class on stage at the Jubilee Auditorium at 11:15, followed by a question and answer period with Jean Grand-Maitre. Guests are also invited to watch the student matinee of Midsummer Night’s Dream at 12:30-1:45.
